Malcolm Green’s love for restoring
clocks and furniture to their original state was ignited at a very
young age,
when influenced by his father who was an engineer.
After leaving school Malcolm decided
to go follow his passion for everything historical and ventured in to
the field
of archaeology, which he enjoyed very much but the
travelling around associated
with archaeology
was not really
conducive to a social life so he decided that the restoration side of
archaeology was rather more his thing .
After a while Malcolm decided that
he had to branch out on his own, restoring clocks and furniture which
was
exactly like taking his hobby to work.
Malcolm has been restoring clocks
and furniture professionally now for nearly 35 years, a lot of time has
been
spent in the workshop but some has been spent
teaching students about
restoration and valuation aspects at
local Colleges, and local lectures.
Malcolm has been asked to undertake
restoration of some very important antique clocks and furniture for the
private
individual as for private collections and stately homes.
He has also
undertaken restoration
work in churches where he has restored mediaeval plaques and furniture
and acts
as a consultant to architects and interior designers on his knowledge
of the
period concept.
His knowledge on antiques and
restoration has allowed him to work for insurance companies and
solicitors
using his valuing skills.
Malcolm is at the moment estimating
for the restoration of gilding and works of art at a well known stately
home and
is a fully affiliated member of BAFRA and is as passionate and
enthusiastic
about antique
clocks and furniture now as he was when he was at school.
