Clock restoration is carried out to the highest standard and techniques include case restoration, face painting, wheel cutting. Restoration of the clock case is undertaken using traditional methods. All timbers used are of the correct period.
We carry out comprehensive repair of movement, in particular our specialty being long case and fusee movements. The restoration process in such a movement would involve the following:

Work that may have been carried out on clocks during the 1930's/40's will have been done so using soft solder. We remove this solder and restore in a proper fashion for the period. In fact, many of the clocks we restore arrive at our workshop in appalling condition, with badly soldered and hammered joints.

We carry out work on a variety of clocks, from small carriage clocks and long cases to turret clocks in Churches and Cathedrals. We acknowledge the fact that aesthetically you will want your timepiece to remain in it's period, and we have the experience to carry this out. Woodworm is cured, missing parts are replaced and wood is crafted from matching timbers. Below are a few example pictures of clock face painting and movement restorations currently being undertaken, which can be enlarged by clicking the images.
